We have created a pit stop for bees on a tiny fourth-storey roof in Farringdon. The UK's titchiest bee, the 4mm-long Small scissor bee, stops to feed on bell flowers, furrow bees forage on Mexican fleabane and Red mason bees nest in bee hotels and feed on wallflowers.
”Urban Bees has done a great job creating pit stops for hungry bees on one of our small roof terraces. Their flower-filled planters ensure there are tasty nectar and pollen snacks available for a variety of wild bee species through spring and early summer, complementing sedums on the green roof that bloom later. Brian was quick to rectify some teething problems with the irrigation system. And it’s fantastic to see the bee hotels and observation box they installed on our brick wall are now being occupied by wild bees.”
