{"id":706,"date":"2011-08-28T18:50:56","date_gmt":"2011-08-28T17:50:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urbanbees.co.uk\/blog_1\/?p=706"},"modified":"2018-08-21T10:19:41","modified_gmt":"2018-08-21T09:19:41","slug":"hosting-a-beehive-in-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urbanbees.co.uk\/blog_1\/?p=706","title":{"rendered":"Hosting a beehive in 2012?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We know our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanbees.co.uk\/maps\/map_of_hive_locations_update.htm\">bee map<\/a>  is widely used.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fjallravenkankenuk.me.uk\/k-aring-nken-no-2-uk.html\">Kanken  <\/a> But we\u2019re never quite sure how successful it is matching beekeepers without a suitable hive location with hive hosters, so it was nice to hear from Kate Ulrick at the Quaker Meeting House.<br \/> After putting up a marker on the map earlier this year she was contacted a few weeks later by Louis who had a hive full of bees and all the equipment.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fjallravenkankenuk.me.uk\/k-aring-nken-no-2-uk.html\"> <\/a> Kate is the warden at the Quaker Meeting House just off St Martins Lane in London\u2019s west end.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alter48.fr\/-air--flyknit-2017.html\"><\/a> She lives on site and wanted to keep bees in the garden there.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xavy.fr\/-flyknit-lunar.html\"> flyknit lunar<\/a> Louis was delighted to have a location so near to the abundant forage of St James\u2019 park.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fjallravenkankensale.me.uk\/\"><\/a> He&#8217;d been using the map for a while to find a site for his bees. \u201cIt was a pleasure to discover the map contained a wealth of good locations with friendly and enthusiastic people\u201d, he says.<br \/> Members of the Quaker community have been invited to look at the hive which is an usual apemaye hive &#8211; a big plastic box designed in Turkey &#8211; which <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cornwallhoney.co.uk\/beepedia\/thermohive.htm \">some predict is the future of beekeeping<\/a>.<br \/> In the spring, Kate says they may engage a small interested group to help with basic hive maintenance.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fjallravenkankensale.me.uk\/kanken-classic.html\"><\/a> \u201cI recognised the potential of developing beekeeping into more of a community project,\u201d she says. \u201cThere is lots of interests from the community of Quakers. However, the space that the hive is located in at the moment, doesn\u2019t leave much room for crowding round\u201d.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alter48.fr\/-air--1-femme.html\"><\/a> Louis says he will be collaborating with his hosts on all aspects of beekeeping including the harvesting and consumption of any future honey.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to hearing about their progress in 2012. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We know our bee map is widely used.
