{"id":646,"date":"2011-08-23T11:17:11","date_gmt":"2011-08-23T10:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urbanbees.co.uk\/blog_1\/?p=646"},"modified":"2018-08-21T10:16:55","modified_gmt":"2018-08-21T09:16:55","slug":"history-of-city-beekeeping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urbanbees.co.uk\/blog_1\/?p=646","title":{"rendered":"History of city beekeeping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We didn\u2019t have much luck researching the history of beekeeping in London for our book Bees in the City,  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alter48.fr\/-tn-pas-cher-homme.html\"><\/a> but Mikey at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalgrowth.org\/bees\/\">Capital Bee<\/a> has unearthed these amazing British Pathe news reels from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishpathe.com\/record.php?id=36694\">1937 <\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishpathe.com\/record.php?id=47142 \">1952 <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishpathe.com\/record.php?id=834\">1958 <\/a> that clearly demonstrate what we suspected all along,  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xavy.fr\/-air-force-1.html\"> force 1<\/a> that people have been keeping bees in London for some time.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mochilas-kanken.com.es\/\">Mochilas Fj\u00e4llr\u00e4ven Kanken Tienda<\/a> Adelaide House,  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fjallravenkankenoutlet.me.uk\/\">Fj\u00e4llr\u00e4ven K\u00e5nken<\/a> near Tower Bridge,  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fjallravenkankenuk.me.uk\/\"> Backpacks<\/a> a building on Fleet Street, and Waterloo Station are the locations for these city hives.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fjallravenkankenuk.me.uk\/k-aring-nken-mini-uk.html\"> Mini<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Urban beekeeping maybe not have been on the scale we are seeing now in the pre and post war years,  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alter48.fr\/-air--90.html\">  90<\/a> but an interesting figure quoted in one of films of there being 116,000 beekeepers in Britain, <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We didn\u2019t have much luck researching the history of beekeeping in London for our book Bees in the City, but Mikey at Capital Bee has unearthed these amazing British Pathe news reels from 1937 and 1952 and 1958 that clearly demonstrate what we suspected all along, force 1 that people have been keeping bees in [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-646","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blogs"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 -
