Pics of Queen's Park Here is our Queen's Park garden and hive. Thanks to Leon for taking these photos. The bees were in a really good mood that day (Sept 09) which was perfect since I was able to show budding newcomers to the beekeeping world how I go about my beekeeping and Leon took the shots and no one got stung.
California Almond pollination Alison and Brian out in California at the almond pollination. The largest pollination event in the world. 1.2 million bee hives trucked into Central Valley to pollinate 600 acres of almonds. We were here to research our book 'A World without Bees'
Fun with a swarm Our Battersea hive swarmed and the cast was just in reach if we stood on top of a transit van. Just happened to be a van avaialable. We caught it and gave it a new home.
Honeybee on a bluebell flower This was early on in our beekeeping days and we were told that bee don't like bluebells. I caught this honeybee having a great time on the flower.
Drones and workers The first picture is a drone (male) bee. He is quite larger than his sister the worker bee seen here with pollen laden on her back legs.
Our first hive This is Alison's garden in Queen's Park, London, where we put our first hive. We still have the bees there though the queen and colony are different.
